Frequently Ask Questions

What can we help you with today?

So glad you asked! Hop On Hop Off is a unique tour format where you and your group travel independently from the other groups on the bus. In fact we encourage each group to disperse throughout the region so we don’t inundate any one winery with a large group of un-booked guests.

Essentially our bus follows a recurring timetable circuit comprising of 10-17 venues that it visits every hour. You are free to hop on or off at any of the stops, knowing from the timetable when we’ll be back to collect you and take you to your next stop.

It’s not a guided tour and we’re not there to tell you where to go and how long to spend there. With the info we provide in the Info-Packs for each region, liberal use of the internet and your own sparkling ingenuity, we’ve left it to you to plan your day. Enjoy!

The answer is a resounding ‘No’ – our buses are not licensed to drink alcohol onboard, and our tours are absolutely not about drinking as much as possible.

Our tours are about offering a fun and unique way to taste wine and visit special wineries! And we take alcohol safety very seriously and have in place a strict passenger code of conduct that is based on our legal duty of care to all passengers, which all passengers must read and sign prior to starting their tour.

If any guest breaches the code by becoming intoxicated or acting disrespectfully or unlawfully, their tour will be stopped and they may be removed from the vehicle.

We now have 3 buses going out so we are able to visit 1-3 regions per day. Our current schedule is:

  • McLaren Vale South – Thrs, Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon
  • McLaren Vale North – Thrs, Fri, Sat, Sun & Mon
  • Hahndorf & Hills – Fri, Sat & Sun
  • Barossa Valley – Wed, Thurs, Fri, Sat, Sun, & Mon

For the available dates for each region, please see the individual tours pages.

Our fares are determined by 2 factors: 1 – The day you are touring, and 2 – Where
you start and end your tour.

The City Pick Up ticket price is:

  • $89.95pp on weekends

The In Region Pick Up ticket price is:

  • $79.95pp on weekends

The PrePackage ticket price is Either Pickup In Region Or City:

  • $169.95pp on weekends

Please note that In Region Pick Ups only tour in the region they collect in.

All of these tours can be easily booked on this website.

For your convenience we offer several fare types:

    • City Pick Up & Return Fare – Departing from Adelaide City pickup $89.95pp

For all large groups of 7+ guests, before you book please ensure you have read our Large Groups page so you understand how it works on TrailHopper, and then please call the office on 0422 31 9123 so we can discuss your requirements and help you plan your day. As there is a bit more planning involved with large groups, we know you’ll appreciate the help our friendly staff provide.

All of our city location pickups are collected from the Stamford Plaza – 150 North Terrace Adelaide SA 5000

Yes children are welcome onboard, however, please take note of the following:

1 Baby Seats / Boosters – Unfortunately there is no way for guests to bring or install car seats, as there are literally no anchor points. Legally our 20-seat buses are defined as ‘omnibuses’ which are any ‘real’ buses defined as above 13 seats. As such, like a public transport passenger bus or tram, children under 5 would have to ride on their parents at their own risk, and TrailHopper is not legally liable for any child passenger under 16 years old.

2 Prams, Strollers & Luggage – Unfortunately we have no storage space for large items such as prams. Also, due to health and safety regulations, our aisles are officially designated as ‘Emergency Exits’, so unless it is an umbrella pram or item that can fold up be stored under the guests’ own seat then we cannot accept prams onboard.

3 In terms of child fares, children aged 5 or older are charged at the full seat rate. Children under 5 that can ride on their parents laps may travel free of charge.

All of our pickups within the region are at the information centers:

Adelaide Hills Tour: Adelaide Hills Visitor Information Centre 68 Mount Barker Rd, Hahndorf SA 5245

McLaren Vale Tour: McLaren Vale and Fleurieu Coast Visitor Centre 796 Main Rd, McLaren Vale SA 5171

Barossa Valley Tour: Barossa Visitor Centre 66/68 Murray St, Tanunda SA 5352

Yes there will be other guests on the bus as we are not a private tour.

We use Toyota Coasters – a comfortable, 20 Seat bus equipped with air-conditioning and tinted windows.

Our buses follow a strict timetable for that circuit. You can view and download the Info-Packs for your tour here, plus we’ll include a link to download it with your ticket confirmation email. There’s also printed copies available on the bus.

No, we do not have credit card facilities on the bus. Please call 0422 319 123 to make your booking via Credit Card.

No problem! We don’t actually need you to present your ticket as we have all bookings on the manifest.

Our circuits offer a range of eating options for all budgets, tastes and dietary needs. Check the McLaren Vale North Destinations, McLaren Vale South Destinations, Barossa Valley Destinations, or Hahndorf & Hills Destinations pages for more details on the eating options available.

Our tours are full of wonderful scenery, amazing food options, chocolate and cheese tasting, historical sites, wineries, breweries and regional town centres. We believe our service will appeal to almost everyone. For more details on where we visit, check the McLaren Vale North Destinations, McLaren Vale South Destinations, Barossa Valley Destinations, or Hahndorf & Hills Destinations pages.

Departing from the city, we collect from the Stamford Plaza Hotel at 150 North Tce.

Within each region, our standard pick up locations are the local Visitor Information Centres. However you are also welcome to embark from any of the established stops along our circuit within the region.

If you are embarking in the region and your pick up location is not the Visitor Information Centre, then you must phone to advise us – Ph: 0422 319123

Unfortunately due to the very tight timings involved we are not able to pick up guests from their specific accommodation, and instead require all guests to meet at the central CBD departure location of the Stamford Plaza Hotel (150 North Tce).

Within each region, we can only let visitors embark and disembark at the pre-determined stops along the circuit.

You need to scan it in-app to collect a stamp.
