Situated in the heart of McLaren Vale, only 45 minutes south of Adelaide, is d’Arenberg Winery. Founded in 1912, it is considered one of the most pivotal wineries in the area. The Mediterranean climate and cooling sea breezes make the McLaren Vale an ideal location for producing excellent Shiraz, Grenache and Cabernet – and d’Arenberg is certainly no exception when it comes to these wines!
d’Arenberg has also recently installed a new cellar door, the d’Arenberg Cube. The Cube has become a major tourist attraction for its quirky design, interesting artwork and panoramic views over McLaren Vale, the Willunga Hills and the Gulf of St Vincent. The cellar door offers complimentary tastings of a selection of their wines, otherwise, you can opt for a more premium experience and upgrade your tasting flight.
The cellar door is open daily from 10am to 5pm. Entry into the d’Arenberg Cube costs $10 per person, however, this includes a self-guided tour of the Alternate Realities Museum and also a complimentary tasting for that fee. Bookings are essential for groups over 5.
d’Arenberg also has two restaurants on their grounds, both with stunning views overlooking the rolling hills of the McLaren Vale. D’Arry’s Verandah showcases the best of seasonal and local produce and offers both a degustation and à la carte menu. The d’Arenberg Cube Restaurant is more luxurious with only a seasonally changing degustation menu on offer.
So, what are you waiting for? Always wanted to check the Cube out? Why not jump aboard with Trailhopper and let us take you to d’Arenberg! You can also check out some other wineries on one of our McLaren Vale tours.
